About Mitra BUMMA
Mitra BUMMA partners with indigenous tribes in Indonesia to create indigenous-led businesses (BUMMAs) that generate economic opportunities while protecting the environment and preserving culture. We support the development of non-timber forest products, eco-tourism, and carbon by providing operational and strategic guidance, ensuring that indigenous communities retain ownership and leadership.
Role Overview
The Business Operations Field Manager is responsible for executing the Co-CEO’s business strategy in the field, ensuring efficient implementation of Mitra BUMMA’s business initiatives, particularly eco-tourism and vanilla production. This role requires a business-minded professional with proven experience in business management and operations, capable of independently driving execution while collaborating with internal teams and indigenous partners.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Indonesian, highly organized, and experienced in managing business operations, logistics, and field teams. They must be comfortable working in remote environments while maintaining high standards in execution. Additionally, they must be adept at working within indigenous cultural contexts, ensuring that Mitra BUMMA’s support reinforces indigenous leadership rather than replacing it.
Key Responsibilities
Business Operations & Execution:
Implement and operationalize the Co-CEO’s strategy for eco-tourism and vanilla.
Establish and oversee business workflows, supply chain processes, and operational systems to ensure efficiency.
Lead the execution of business development plans, ensuring targets are met while adapting to on-the-ground realities.
Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve field operations.
Management & Team Leadership:
Manage and train field staff, ensuring they execute tasks effectively.
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring tasks are completed on time and according to business and operational standards.
Develop performance metrics and reporting structures for field operations.
Financial & Supply Chain Oversight:
Ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards.
Work closely with finance and field teams to ensure smooth business operations.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Indigenous Partner Support:
Provide expert guidance to indigenous partners on operations, business planning, and market positioning.
Coordinate with the Co-CEO, finance, and marketing teams to align field operations with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 2+ years managing a team.
Minimum 5+ years of experience working in business environment.
Experience working in remote or developing regions.
Experience in agriculture, eco-tourism, or non-timber forest products is preferred.
Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesian (spoken and written).
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to train and manage field staff, ensuring structured execution of tasks.
Proficiency in administrative tasks, including reporting.
Willingness to work in remote locations and travel as needed.
Experience with International standards (ISO)
